
Office of Research and Innovation Colloquium Series
The Office of Research and Innovation invites all faculty and students to attend UNESCO Chair Dr. Liette Vasseur’s lecture on “Working with Rural Communities from Local to Global” as part of its monthly colloquium series.

Dr. Vasseur is a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Brock University where she is also a member of the Women and Gender Studies program and the Environmental Sustainability Research Centre. Since 2014, she has held the UNESCO Chair on Community Sustainability: From Local to Global at Brock. Her work as a UNESCO Chair aims to strengthen initiatives in sustainable agriculture and community-based natural resource management in Canada, China, and other countries such as Ecuador, in order to develop concrete actions and best practices transferable to various countries around the world. These projects also relate to the importance of integrating an ecosystem approach, as climate and environmental changes are affecting rural communities.
