Join us virtually with Liz Webgamikad an Anishinaabe (Ojibway, Odawa, Pottawattomi) Algoma U Director of the Shingwauk Residential Schools Centre in making bannock and hamburger soup. Liz will be sharing the recipes passed down in her family, now being shared with the next generation and invites you to watch, visit and make your own bannock and soup. Liz is the oldest of 11 children, has been married for 28 years, started dating her husband in high school 38 years ago and together they share 4 children and a love for cooking within the family.
Demonstration includes, prep of ingredients, tips and visiting about this staple meal in many Anishinaabe homes will providing for your opportunity to cook dinner for your family/loved ones.
Bannock ingredients: flour (your choice), baking powder, lard, oil, salt and sugar.
Soup ingredients: noodles (your choice), 2 cans of diced tomatoes, 1 can of tomato juice, 1 stalk of celery, 1 onion, 1 pound of hamburger, salt, pepper, 1 box of soup base, vegetables (your choice).
