2018 Honours History Thesis Night
The History Program at Algoma University is pleased to announce our Honours Thesis
Night presentation for the 2018 academic year. The papers are based on primary research
located within contemporary historical debates and address a stimulating set of topics,
selected by students and supervised by program faculty. Two themes have emerged from this
year’s projects: gaps and discrepancies in historical interpretations of the early practices of
barber surgeons in England and the enlistment and experiences of Anishinaabe soldiers from
northern Ontario during World War I. The following papers will be presented:
Nicole Curry, “Fake News: The Problem of Secondary Sources in the History of the Barber Surgeons Company in England”
Cole Nolan, “Zhimaaganishag — Soldiers: Anishinaabe Warriors in the Canadian Corps 1914 – 1918”
Wednesday, 28 March, Shingwauk Auditorium, 7:00 p.m
All are welcome and refreshments will be served.
