On September 24th, 25th, and 26th 2021 our community will be gathering to build a teaching lodge on the grounds behind the Anishinaabe Discover Centre at 1492 Queen Street directly across from Algoma University, and we are requesting the help of volunteers.

The lodge build will be led by Elder Mike Bisson from Wikwemikong, currently living in Mississauga First Nation. Mike is 4th degree Midewiwin and has been active in supporting Anishinaabe education in the Bawating community for many years.

Gathering Times:
Friday September 24th, 2021 – 6-7pm – Opening Ceremony
Saturday September 25th, 2021 – 8am – 3pm – Gathering Poles and Preparing Holes
Sunday September 26th, 2021 – 8am – 3pm – Tying the Lodge

Lunch will be provided Saturday and Sunday!

All are welcome to attend anytime during the building of the Lodge. Construction will take place no matter the weather so please dress accordingly.
