Canada Water Agency Youth Consultation

Water is all of our business. It is the foundation of all that we do, which is why the Government of Canada is establishing a Canada Water Agency to improve freshwater management across the country. A Canada Water Agency location would have a significant economic impact, including professional full-time jobs and significant economic investment. We believe Sault Ste. Marie would be an ideal location for such an Agency.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie has partnered with Dr. Elaine Ho-Tassone, Project Coordinator at Lake Huron North and Part-time Faculty at Algoma University, to lead a series of community discussions. We want to understand your perspectives regarding having a Canada Water Agency in Sault Ste. Marie, as well as your priorities and values for ensuring a water secure Algoma District.

The City’s Canada Water Agency Task Force invites Algoma District youth – regardless of your familiarity with freshwater science or management – to share your perspectives for a water secure future for everyone. We also encourage you to share this invitation with your friends and family; in addition to our youth sessions, we have one final in-person event planned for November 2021 that everyone is invited to.

Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you. For more information or to share your thoughts before/after the youth meeting:
