Shoreline Cleanup

Join us for our first annual shoreline cleanup!

Become a freshwater ambassador by adopting a shoreline along our upper great lakes, and help keep our water fresh for future generations.

How to participate:

YOUR SHORELINE IS CALLING ???? → https://freshwaterwise.squarespace.com/

✅ Choose a shoreline location that you love and commit to cleaning it up! Lake Superior, Lake Huron, St. Mary’s River or an inland waterway.

✅ Review the map to find the cleanup on Saturday, July 17th, named Water Wise Cleanup, closest to you.

✅ To do this, enter the city/town closest to you. Zoom out of the map to expand your search by clicking the zoom (+/-) buttons on the bottom right of the map. MAP PINPOINT NOT AN EXACT LOCATION. https://www.shorelinecleanup.ca/cleanups

✅ Register yourself/your small group by clicking on the orange marker closest to your location and make sure it says “Water Wise Cleanup”. Follow the “Join this cleanup” link to register.

✅ Please note, there will be NO IN-PERSON event. If in a group, all public health guidelines and social distancing must be adhered to.

✅ A Litter Data Card link will be sent to the email you register with. You can do it on your phone or print in advance and then input your data within 3 days afterwards. It’s like a treasure hunt of litter! We will work collectively to clean up our waterways and shores.

✅ Tell your water stories and invite others to join! How BIG can this cleanup be? How much change can we create if we remove 1000 shopping bags worth of garbage from these waterways we love?

✅ Like, tag and follow us: we will share stories and results of the day with all of you! @freshwaterwise

✅ Follow all COVID-19 health and safety guidelines

✅ Any registrations questions please email [email protected]

THIS EVENT IS HELD IN COOPERATION WITH LAKE SUPERIOR STATE UNIVERSITY AND ALGOMA UNIVERSITY.
