Sometimes it is hard to understand why a young person so full of life, such a beautiful soul is taken so suddenly from this world. Our community at Algoma University has been shook by Devashree’s passing and I know many who knew her and spent time with her cherished their time and the memories that will be with us forever. Let us keep our prayers and thoughts with Chaitali, Devashree’s sister and her parents who will arrive to Canada today. Let us share in our memories to support the grief process for all who are mourning her loss and share those beautiful stories of her time with us. I came across this card that has provided me with some peace in these times of sorrow and I share these with you in the hopes that it helps in some small way.
There is No Good-Bye: Baamaa Pii Miinwaa Kaawaabmin
I will drum for you
I will sing for you
You will live in my heart
Till I see you again.

Poem: There is No Good-Bye

In March, Devashree and I met for dinner at Square One after work. Our conversation flowed for hours, focusing on the future of the Professional & Continuing Education department. We openly shared our challenges and provided mutual encouragement, both being relatively new employees at Algoma University.
Devashree left a lasting impression as a genuinely authentic person, consistently demonstrating courtesy and respect to those around her. I vividly recall her stories of navigating university life in Alberta alongside her sister, followed by their journey and relocation to Mississauga. She embodied the role of a nurturing big sister, always prioritizing the needs of others above her own. Before we left that evening, she did not forget to get takeout for her sister.
Devashree will forever remain in my memory. It was a privilege to have known her and to have had the opportunity to work alongside her.
In memory of Devashree: “Though we may feel the weight of their absence, let us carry their light forward, knowing that their spirit continues to guide and inspire us.”

Devashree spent only a few months with us as manager in the Professional and Continuing Education Unit but her genuine kindness made everyone feel welcome and valued. She had an incredible ability to see the best in people and brought out the best in them as well.
She was passionate about her work, always eager to learn and grow. Whether she was participating in university events, volunteering, or simply spending time with friends, she did so with enthusiasm and grace. Her adventurous spirit and zest for life were truly inspiring.
As we reflect on Devashree’s life, let us hold onto the beautiful memories we shared with her. Let us remember her not with sadness for what we have lost, but with gratitude for what we had. Her legacy of love, kindness, and positivity will continue to live on in our hearts and in the stories we share.
To Devashree’s family, especially her sister Chaitali and her parents, we extend our deepest sympathies. Please know that your pain is shared by the Algoma University Community. May you find comfort in the love and support of those around you during this difficult time.
In remembrance of Devashree, let us continue to live our lives with the same passion, kindness, and joy that she exemplified every day.
With heartfelt condolences,
Istvan

Dearest Chaitali and Family,
From the first moment I met Devahree, her kindness and zest for life was immediately infectious. Our friendship was instant. Dev was excited to start her journey with Algoma University and her positive aura was clear from day one. Her presence was extraordinarily unique and I could always feel her genuine excitement (for even the little things). Dev and I bonded over our love for coffee. Each moment on campus, Dev would greet staff with her smile and we would start the day with a visit to the local coffee shop. Our conversations were around the love for our families and she immediately took on the role of Auntie Dev to my daughter Scarlett. Not a day went by without her asking how I was feeling. Surely anyone who met Devashree felt the same. To Devashree’s family,I will remember every moment we shared together as she was truly the most beautiful, wise, kind friend.

Devashree had the kindest soul and showed that everyday in her interactions with both students and staff. She was always eager to help; focused on finding a solution. She truly cared about each and every person she met; always getting to know them on a personal level.
Her impact on this world will last an eternity and the joy she brought to Algoma will never be forgotten.
Her memory will forever remain a blessing.

Devashree, you will be missed. You had the ability to light up every room you walked in. Dev, we will miss your kindness, your laughter, and your sense of humor. You took every opportunity to ask how those around you were doing. You were one of the most selfless people I have ever met. You were always there to check-in and chat whenever we might have needed it.
I will miss our chats about local food spots, music, and new car ownership. You have left an impact and impression on us that we will never be able to fill. You brought so many ideas and creative solutions to all things work related. You challenged us all to think outside of the box and embodied what hard work and dedication looked like. Thank you for all the support you provided me and our entire team during your time here.
You will not be forgotten. Sending lots of love to your entire family. Rest in Peace my friend!

Although Devashree and I didn’t work together for long, we instantly connected the first time we met in person. Her positivity and kindness radiated through every conversation. She was a gift to Algoma U and anyone who had the opportunity to work with her. Her passion and dedication to her work were obvious and wonderful to witness. Not often in life do you get to meet someone like Dev.
Devashree, thank you for sharing your light and your joy with us. You are deeply missed.
My thoughts are with her family and friends during this terribly difficult time. Sending love and strength to you all.

Sending my deepest condolences to Devashree’s family and friends, near and far. What a loving friend and kind soul Devashree was. From a short period of time I was able to share with her, I knew that she was the most kind and warmest person I’ve ever met. On her birthday I happen to drop by her desk, and she generously shared one of her cupcakes with me that her team got. I will forever cherish all the moments I had with her. Thank you, Devashree, for being part of our AU family.
