Algoma Ready Program

The ARP program is designed for students who are close to but have not yet met the minimum admission requirements for their intended Algoma U program. Courses will be offered online from July 15-August 25th.

The following criteria outlines the students who would be eligible to participate in the program.

Students would be admitted on the condition that they achieve their OSSD before September 9th, 2020 (The first day of Fall semester classes) and meet one (or more) of the following criteria:

1. Students who are missing one Grade 12 U/M courses*a. Students must complete at least 5 Grade 12 U/M courses with an overall average of 65%
b. Students must complete at least 5 Grade 12 U/M courses with an overall average 70% for admission into programs that require 70%

2. Students would be admitted if they have 6 Grade 12 U/M courses but fall below the grade requirements*
a. admission offered to the ARP program for students who have completed 6 Grade 12 U/M courses but lack the 65% average (min. 62%)
b. admission offered to the remedial program for students who have completed 6 Grade 12 U/M courses but lack the 70% average (min. 67%)

3. Students who have failed or are missing ENG4U (Grade 12 U English)

*Students must either meet the grade requirement OR the course requirement for their intended program. They cannot be missing both requirements.

Students who complete the ARP program with a minimum grade of 60%, will be eligible to continue in the Fall with no course load or probation restrictions.

For mature students and college transfer (those not receiving trcr) students could also benefit from these courses. Math would only be required if entering into BBA/BA4FNEC. Some college diploma to degree students would also benefit from the English course. We could strongly recommend it for those with diplomas between 2.0 and 2.49.

This program could be required for any student who we admit on probation, university transfers too (not the math unless requesting science/business).

Students who complete the ARP program with a minimum grade of 60%, will be eligible to continue in the Fall with no course load or probation restrictions.
