Privacy at Algoma University

Algoma University is dedicated to protecting personal privacy and supporting access to information (personal or institutional) in support of transparency and accountability, in line with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) which Ontario universities must comply with.

The University has established the Privacy Office (University Secretariat) to oversee and support organizational compliance with privacy legislation and the protection of privacy and access to information at the University. The Privacy Office is responsible for the following: 

  • Protecting the privacy of personal information 
  • Processing access to information requests 
  • Leadership in Access and Privacy, guiding the University Community with clear policies and support
Access to Information

Protection of Privacy

Algoma University holds personal information about students, their families, employees, and others who use our campuses. We collect only personal information that is directly related to, and needed for, operating our programs and activities in accordance with our Privacy Notices.
