Black History Month 2025

Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generation

February is Black History Month, a time to reflect on the many achievements, contributions, and legacies of Black individuals and communities in Canada and beyond, whose history and impact in Canada date back to the 1600s.

Black History Month is also a time to reflect on the University’s commitment to the Scarborough Charter, to undoing anti-Black racism, and to fostering an environment where Black thriving and inclusion are prioritized.

The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and the EDI Anti-Black Racism Working Group invite everyone to join us for a month-long series of celebrations, learning, and reflections across our campuses and communities. Through various events, programs, and discussions, we will honour Black voices, their stories, struggles, and triumphs on our campuses and in the broader community. Black history is lived every day of the year, and we encourage you to commit to being accomplices and allies in this ongoing work for Black justice and inclusion.
