**NEW DATE** Indigenous Storytelling and Knowledge Sharing with Dr. Alan Corbiere

Significance of the Two Row Wampum, the University’s Covenant and Special Mission

(SAULT STE. MARIE/TIMMINS — April 13, 2026) Algoma University’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Office, in collaboration with the Bimosen Anishinaabe Miikana (BAM) working group, invites the community to a special storytelling event on April 23.

Originally scheduled for March and postponed due to inclement weather, the event will feature Dr. Alan Corbiere, Assistant Professor in the History Department at York University and Tier II Canada Research Chair in Indigenous History of North America. Dr. Corbiere will speak on the significance of the Two Row Wampum and Algoma University’s Covenant and Special Mission.

This event marks the first in a series of storytelling and learning opportunities the group hopes to bring to the University community, with additional advocacy and events planned in the future. Participants are welcome to join in person at the Sault Ste. Marie campus or virtually via Zoom.
