Combo Program Auditions

If you’re a young musician with a passion for pop, rock, jazz, or contemporary styles, we want to hear from you! GLISME’s combo program is designed for students who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are ready to perform a dynamic setlist within two weeks. We’re building high-energy bands and are looking for dedicated musicians who can bring their unique skills to the stage.

Combo Program Auditions:

Instruments: Vocals, guitar, keyboard, drums, bass, saxophone, trumpet, and trombone. (Other instruments may be accepted based on band needs.)

Audition Format:

  • Auditions are 15 minutes long.
  • Students can audition solo, in a duo, or with a full band, depending on their preference.
  • Perform two songs of your choice, played from memory and without a backing track.
  • The audition will conclude with a 5-minute Q&A session with the audition panel.

Song Selection:

  • Choose two songs that best represent your abilities and preferred genres. Whether you want to highlight your rhythm skills, improvisation, or vocal talents, select pieces that showcase your strengths and musical identity.

Expectations:

Participants should be prepared to commit to learning and performing a 30-minute set (typically 3-4 songs per week) during GLISME’s 14-day program. This includes regular band rehearsals, individual practice, and participation in group feedback sessions. We’re seeking musicians who are ready to collaborate, push their skills, and take the stage with confidence!

Career Fair
Empower the Next Generation of Leaders and Musicians

GLISME operates entirely through the generous support of donors and sponsors who believe in the transformative power of music education.

Become a Sponsor

GLISME was launched with one-time seed funding from Algoma University and now relies entirely on the generosity of donors and sponsors to sustain its mission. Every contribution is vital to ensuring we can continue providing accessible, high-quality music education for talented young musicians.

Research shows that students who study music develop critical thinking, resilience, and leadership skills—qualities that contribute to success in any field. Consider the story of notable Canadians like former Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney, who is also an accomplished guitarist. Carney has often spoken about how music shaped his discipline and ability to focus, skills he applied in his role as a leading economist.

Other leaders worldwide, including Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, and former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, credit their musical backgrounds for honing their professional strengths.

Your sponsorship of GLISME provides not just a summer program but a foundation for young musicians who will grow to lead, innovate, and inspire across industries. By supporting GLISME, you’re investing in a brighter future for these students, our community, and the arts.
