(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – April 13, 2017): The Board of Governors of Algoma University have initiated a comprehensive process to recruit a new university president.
A Presidential Search Committee has been formed to oversee the process and recommend a candidate to the Board of Governors. The search committee has broad representation from the university community including University senate, students, faculty, staff and Anishinaabe partners.
“This is an exciting time for Algoma University, we are in search of a dynamic leader who can work with us to fulfill our special mission,” said Dr. Celia Ross, Acting President of Algoma University. “Input from all university stakeholder groups is critical in helping ensure the ongoing success of Algoma U.”
The search process, which was approved at the April 6, 2017 Board of Governors meeting will begin next week.
“The Board of Governors would like to thank Dr. Ross for her outstanding leadership over the last 5 months,” said Mark Nogalo, Chair of the Board of Governors. “Her commitment to Algoma University’s vision is to be commended. We are confident in Dr. Ross’s ability to lead the university until a new president is in place.”
Once the search commences, updates will be posted on Algoma’s website at www.algomau.ca/pres-search.
