The Algoma University Choir concluded its end-of-term performance in December 2025 with a meaningful act of community support, raising funds, and collecting donations for the Algoma University Students’ Union (AUSU) Food Pantry through its concert.
Members of the Choir formally presented the collected donation to the pantry, underscoring music’s power to inspire community engagement and social good. The initiative reflects the generosity of concert audiences and the shared commitment of students, faculty, and community members to supporting vital local services.
“This moment represents more than a donation,” said Edward Turgeon, D.M.A., Director of the Algoma University Music Program. “It speaks to the power of music to bring people together, foster empathy, and create tangible positive impact within our community. I am proud of Algoma U Choir and their continuing list of accomplishments under the leadership of Choir Director, Professor Paul Dingle.”
The donation presentation highlighted Algoma University’s commitment to experiential learning, community engagement, and service. Through initiatives like this, students gain opportunities to connect their academic and creative work with real-world social impact.
Algoma University extends its appreciation to the pantry for its vital work in the community and to all audience members whose generosity made the donation possible.
