Algoma University Joins Prestigious Royal Society of Canada

Membership strengthens Algoma U’s role in Canada’s top research community

Algoma University has officially joined the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) as an Institutional Member, marking a significant step in elevating the University’s national research profile and strengthening its voice in Canada’s leading network of scholars, scientists, and artists.

“Joining the Royal Society of Canada reflects our commitment to fostering excellence in research and graduate education,” shared Dr. Sheila Embleton, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor. “As a smaller institution with a distinctive Special Mission rooted in cross-cultural education, reconciliation, inclusion, and innovation, this membership further positions Algoma U as a bridge between science, knowledge creation, culture, and community.”

With this membership, Algoma U joins leading Canadian universities in contributing to national dialogues on research, scholarship, and the arts. The membership also provides new opportunities for faculty collaboration, recognition of achievement, and engagement in shaping Canada’s future.
