(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – August 21, 2017): Are you currently attending secondary school and looking to get a head start on your university education? Apply for Algoma University’s Early Access Program (EAP) and earn university credits toward your degree at no cost.
The Early Access Program provides high school students with the opportunity to experience university-level learning prior to completing their secondary school diploma. Students that participate in EAP will attend class regularly, participate in group work, compete assignments, and write end-of-term exams. EAP students will be equipped with the tools and skills needed to succeed at university, making the transition to post-secondary less stressful.
Some courses that are eligible for EAP enrollment include Algoma Reads, Introduction to Canadian Business, Computer Games Marketplace, Introduction to Psychology, Commercial Law, and many more. For a full listing of the 2017-18 courses available, visit Algoma U’s EAP webpage.
EAP is open to Grade 11 and 12 students in the Algoma District School Board and Huron Superior Catholic District School Board who are studying on a full-time basis and maintaining a minimum average of 80 per cent. Students must be 16 years of age or older and must submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counsellor, or principal.
EAP students are exempt from paying tuition. University credit is granted to students who enrol at Algoma University and successfully complete each course. Students can earn a maximum of six credits (two three-credit university courses).
