Grade 11s Take Over Algoma U Campus

(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – May 30, 2017): Beginning today, Grade 11 students from across the Algoma District School Board and Huron Superior Catholic District School Board will take over Algoma University’s campus for two days in the annual Grade 11 Days event.

Approximately 200 students from high schools in Sault Ste. Marie will attend Grade 11 Days for an opportunity to get a dynamic tour of the University, including the Essar Convergence Centre and the newly renovated Arthur A. Wishart Library and the George Leach Centre (GLC). Students will learn about exciting new developments happening at the University, including the launch of the four-year Honours Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science program. Faculty, staff, and students from several departments at the University will be involved in the days’ activities.

“Every year we adapt the Grade 11 Days program to meet the needs of today’s students,” said Brent Krmpotich, Director of Student Recruitment. “The theme of this year’s event is success at university and beyond.  We expect students to leave campus with a better understanding of what it takes to be a successful student at university and how to translate that success into a rewarding career. Hopefully their experience on campus will encourage them to consider Algoma U when choosing a university next year.”

Students who attend will also be entered into a random draw for a $1,000 Algoma University tuition reward, awarded at the end of each day.
