Jordan Dubie graduated from Algoma University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biology. Her time at Algoma U was instrumental in shaping her career path, providing hands-on experiences in the biochemistry lab and an opportunity to complete an honours thesis project. The small class sizes pushed her to make her voice heard, a skill that now serves her well as she communicates with healthcare teams and leads nutrition education sessions.
After Algoma U, she pursued a Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition with an Honours Specialization in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Western Ontario, graduating in June 2021. She then completed the Northern Ontario Dietetic Internship Program at NOSM University in December 2022, officially launching her career as a dietitian.
Her passion for food and cooking began in childhood, with early ambitions of becoming a chef. As she grew older, her interest in health science led her to seek a career that combined both passions. Now, as a dietitian, she finds the most rewarding part of her job is helping people achieve their goals while advocating for holistic healthcare. Food is deeply personal, and being able to support individuals in maintaining their enjoyment of eating while improving their health brings her immense fulfillment. She loves seeing the joy that food brings to people’s lives and takes pride in helping them build a positive relationship with nutrition.
For busy alumni looking for a simple way to improve their nutrition, Jordan’s top piece of advice is to eat breakfast. It may seem intuitive, but it’s often the most skipped meal of the day. Prioritizing a morning meal fuels the body, sets the tone for the day, and ensures optimal function.
One of her favorite recipes, especially when working with kids, is Energy Balls—a simple, customizable, and nutritious snack. The base recipe includes one cup of oats, half a cup of nut butter, a quarter cup of water, one teaspoon of vanilla extract, and one tablespoon of maple syrup, with optional add-ins like mini chocolate chips, raisins, shredded coconut, chia seeds, hemp hearts, or M&Ms. After mixing everything together and chilling for 15 minutes, they’re ready to enjoy—a perfect grab-and-go snack that can be made a little different every time.
Through her journey in dietetics, Jordan continues to make a meaningful impact, helping others enjoy food while prioritizing their health.
