Ski, S’mores & More
Come enjoy what Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma University have to offer in the north. Spend the day at a local ski hill with several outdoor and indoor activities including; skiing, snowboarding, axe throwing, snowshoeing and so much s’more!
George Leach Centre
Students can get physical at the George Leach Centre (GLC), Algoma U’s athletics complex. The gymnasium or field house features three regulation court surfaces, which accommodates a wide range of athletic activities such as badminton, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. One court has been specially designed with a dimple surface for better tennis play. The gym area is surrounded by a 1/9th mile indoor walking and jogging track. Did you know that access to the GLC is included in your tuition? Avoid the freshman fifteen by getting fit and having fun.

Student Leadership Development Conference
The Student Leadership Development Conference consists of keynote speakers and workshops that have been chosen by your Student Success team. This conference’s objective is to engage students in informational and hands-on sessions to strengthen your skills and abilities. “I am a major nature enthusiast, which is what initially drew me to the town of Sault Ste. Marie. Biology is an intensive program so I have spent the past two years working non-stop, but the wonderful professors made the experience easy and interesting. I volunteered for the soil ecology lab, worked on my thesis observing dual mycorrhizal status in conifer tree species, and even joined the WUSC club. There’s plenty of options for students to explore a hobby, job, or club that meets their interest. ”
