Archbishop Anne Germond announces the appointment of Krista McCracken as the Diocesan Archivist

Shared from The Diocese of Algoma: Shaped by a Living Hope Facebook Page:

“Krista is a public historian and archivist and is currently Archives Supervisor at Algoma University’s Arthur A. Wishart Library and Shingwauk Residential Schools Centre. Their research interests include community archives, Residential Schools, access, and outreach. They are one of the 2019-2020 eCampus Ontario Open Education Fellows.

Krista is an editor of the popular Canadian history website Activehistory.ca, serves on the Board of Directors of the National Council on Public History, and is a member of the Steering Committee on Canada’s Archives – Response to the Report on the Truth and Reconciliation Task Force.

Krista is taking on these responsibilities following the departure of Ken Hernden at the end of June. Ken has accepted a position as University Archivist and Associate University Librarian at Queen’s University, Kingston.

We welcome Krista to the role of Diocesan Archivist and bid farewell and blessings to Ken as he leaves Algoma.”
