Giving Tuesday Campaign 2023: Fight Student Hunger
To kickstart the campaign, Algoma University is donating $50,000 to AUSU. We invite you to join us. Our Giving Tuesday goal is to raise $100,000 for AUSU to support their work and help fight student hunger.
Why now?
Canada’s Food Price Report states that the average person spends $4,096 annually on groceries. With the soaring costs of living, we know that there are students across the country and right here at Algoma University who skip meals and go hungry just to make ends meet.
The consequence is alarming. The lack of proper nutritious food affects students’ ability to concentrate, engage in class, and excel in their studies. Food is a human right.
What’s next?
Algoma University is committed to helping fight student hunger among our domestic and international students. With AUSU taking the lead in partnership with Algoma University, we’re looking forward to:
1) Establishing a brand new food pantry at our Brampton campus
2) Expanding the food pantry at our Sault Ste. Marie campus
How you can help
Please consider giving to this worthy cause impacting both our domestic and international students.
For as little as $80, you will be able to provide a basket of food items to meet a student’s food needs for a month.
Visit www.algomau.ca/fightstudenthunger to learn more.
Every dollar you give goes directly to supporting the Food Pantry AUSU operates in Sault Ste. Marie and supports the creation of a new Food Pantry in Brampton!
We are grateful for your generous support, enabling our students with food insecurity to receive the food they require.
