2026 Distinguished Alumni Award Winner: Brad Jacobs

The Algoma University Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes the accomplishments of an Alumni who has reached a pinnacle of personal and professional achievement. The 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award is proudly presented to Brad Jacobs (BA ’07).

During his time at the institution, Brad excelled as a geography student, worked with the physical plant department, and led his varsity curling team to an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association championship. He credits Dr. Arthur Perlini as a pivotal mentor who instrumentally guided his athletic growth.

Since graduating, Jacobs has represented Canada on the global stage for 25 years. He made history as the first male curling skip to win two Olympic gold medals, with thrilling victories at Sochi 2014 and Milano Cortina 2026. Winning his second gold at age 40 stands out as a deeply special achievement, proving his ability to stay at the top of a fiercely competitive sport. He also captured a world championship silver in 2013 and bronze in 2025.

Beyond the ice, Brad is a dynamic business leader, serving as a senior marketing director at a financial firm. Throughout his career, he has pushed boundaries by having the courage to do things his own way, staying genuine, and choosing continuous growth over perfection.

Brad remains deeply committed to supporting the next generation, staying connected to Algoma U through fundraisers, golf tournaments, and the Team Jacobs Follow Your Dreams Bursary.

Brad embodies the spirit of Algoma University through his sustained leadership and unrelenting commitment to excellence.

Congratulations, Brad, on this well-deserved recognition.
