Algoma U Hosting Financial Aid Info Night on May 26th

(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – May 18, 2016): Are you a soon to be university student? Want to know how to make financially-smart decisions? Algoma University invites students and parents to the upcoming Financial Aid Information Night on Thursday, May 26th at 7:00pm in the Shingwauk Auditorium.

The Financial Aid Information Night will provide students with the opportunity to learn how to graduate with as little debt as possible by accessing the financial supports available to them. Financial aid experts will be on hand to discuss the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), including the 30 per-cent off tuition grant and how to successfully complete the OSAP application; how to apply for scholarships and bursaries, and how to access external funding; how to budget and what costs students can expect in attending university; as well as highlighting the ways students can save money by studying at Algoma U.

Algoma U continues to offer one of the most affordable university experiences in Ontario. On average, students can save approximately $6,000 a year by studying at Algoma U. Tuition rates are among the lowest in the province and Algoma U continues to offer some of the best entrance scholarships in Ontario. Students can further offset the cost of university through co-operative education, earning full-time paid work experience, or taking part in the University’s part-time Work Study Program and full-time Summer Employment Program.

“We know that the financial aid process can be daunting for many students,” said Paul Quesnele, Financial Aid and Awards Officer. “Our office receives hundreds of requests a year from students asking for help navigating the system of grants and loans.  We thought it would be beneficial to invite everyone to our campus and share our expertise with the community in an open forum.”

This event is open to the public. All are welcome to attend.
