Algoma University Honours Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is recognized as Sexual Assault Awareness Month.This year, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center has announced the theme of “Building Safe Spaces Online Together”. As a part of our 2022 Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Sexual Violence Task Force is inviting all AU students, staff, faculty and administrators to submit and share messages of hope, support and empowerment to those who have experienced sexual violence in their lives. Our hope is to transform our written submissions into a visual representation to share with the Algoma University community.

We invite you to fill out this form to make sure we’re letting survivors in our AU community know that they are believed and supported!

Open to the entire Algoma University Community

Using this calendar, provided by the NSVRC, we invite you to participate in the 30 days of SAAM challenge. Each day provides us with a new, exciting opportunity to raise awareness, educate others and show support for survivors of sexual violence. 


TRAINING: WHAT TO DO IF SOMEONE REPORTS SEXUAL VIOLENCE TO YOU

Open to Algoma University Staff, Faculty and Administrators

Training hosted by Dr. Deborah Woodman & Brianne Pringle, CHRL for staff, faculty and administrators of Algoma University. The training focuses on the appropriate steps to take when and if someone confides in you that they have experienced sexual violence.

TRAINING: STEP UP! BYSTANDER INTERVENTION 

Open to Algoma University Students

Algoma University’s Sexual Violence Taskforce is excited to bring this training opportunity to our AU community!  Step UP! is a prosocial behaviour and bystander intervention program that educates participants to be proactive in helping others.

This training will help you learn strategies and techniques to intervene directly or indirectly in both emergency and non-emergency situations. 

This training is specific to Students. Please register using this link

  • When: Tuesday, April 26th, 2022
  • Time: 6:00pm – 7:30pm
