Algoma University Participates in 15th Annual USports Shoot for the Cure

All proceeds donated to the Canadian Cancer Society in support of breast cancer research

(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON- Jan 17, 2022): USports recently announced that the 15th annual edition of the Shoot for the Cure will be held both virtually and in-person for the 2021-22 season, from January 17th-30th.

Algoma University’s Thunderbirds Athletics Team is planning a fundraising campaign with all proceeds going towards the fight against breast cancer in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.

To help reach fundraising goals, and to have a little fun while doing it, coaches and administration have volunteered to face a variety of challenges. These challenges will be posted on the Thunderbirds and Algoma University social media, along with facts about breast cancer throughout the months of January and February as goals are met.

“Even though this isn’t typically how this event takes place, our team has come up with great challenges to help raise funds for this important cause,” shared Dave Trudelle, Director of Student Life and Ancillary Services. “You could see members of our staff team thrown into ice baths, pied in the face, and taped to walls for a good cause. If we reach our highest fundraising target, we have volunteers ready to cut and donate their hair in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. Please help us to support this great cause and thank you in advance for your support. ”

Donations are being accepted through the Algoma Thunderbirds team page.
