Algoma University Thunderbirds to Host 16th Annual USports Shoot for the Cure Event

Official Shoot for the Cure 2023 men’s and women’s basketball games taking place Saturday, January 14th 2023, at the GLC vs. Queen’s

(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – Monday, January 9, 2023): USports announced that Shoot for the Cure will be running from January 18th to 29th, 2023. Every year, universities from across Canada participate in this initiative to raise awareness for Breast Cancer and donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. Algoma has participated in this campaign for many years, and the Athletics Department is excited to bring it back!

This year, Algoma University’s Thunderbirds Athletics will be kicking off Shoot for the Cure with basketball games on January 14th, 2023. All proceeds from the games will be donated to our Thunderbirds Team Page. During the women’s halftime, hairstyling students from the Sault College program will be cutting the hair of our volunteers. At the men’s halftime, you can catch our coaches and administration getting pied in the face by our athletes.

We encourage those who attend to wear pink to raise awareness!
