Lisa Vezeau-Allen: 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient 

The Algoma University Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes the accomplishments of an Algoma University Alumni who has reached a pinnacle of personal and professional achievement in their chosen field. The 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to Lisa Vezeau-Allen (BA English ‘94) at this year’s Spring Convocation Ceremony in Sault Ste. Marie.

Lisa is a well-known community advocate, social entrepreneur, and two-term City Councillor in Sault Ste. Marie. She is the founder of Grocer 4 Good and Café 4 Good, two innovative social enterprises that provide meaningful employment and training opportunities for individuals facing barriers to the workforce.

Throughout her career in the not-for-profit and public service sectors, Lisa has championed inclusion, equity, and community resilience. She has led major initiatives across Canada and the U.S., published widely on topics such as youth out-migration and autism advocacy, and raised millions in funding for programs that serve vulnerable populations.

Lisa embodies the spirit of Algoma University through her service, leadership, and unrelenting commitment to creating opportunity for others.
