VICTORIA – University and Indigenous leaders focused on the importance of working together to advance reconciliation during the 2018 National Building Reconciliation Forum held November 15 and 16 at the University of Victoria.

Algoma University, the Shingwauk Education Trust (SET), and Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig (SKG) reaffirmed their partnership and mutual understanding by signing an addendum to their 2006 Covenant agreement in a special ceremony held this afternoon on the University’s campus.
Algoma University’s 6th annual Community Trick or Treat was a resounding success, with record numbers in participants and donations to both the United Way and the Algoma U Food Pantry.
This evening, Algoma University and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will see the University offer an educational training program, titled Shifting Indigenous Frontline Tactics (SHIFT) to all local police personnel.
Faculty, staff, and students of Algoma University are busy making campus spooky for the sixth annual Algoma U Community Trick or Treat Night for the United Way taking place on Tuesday, October 30 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm.
Algoma University’s updated enrolment projections for the 2018-2019 school year point to an anticipated increase of 11 per cent above initial forecasts and an 8.7 per cent increase over 2017-2018 enrolments.
The 2018 Algoma University John R. Rhodes Scholarship Dinner will take place on the evening of Wednesday, October 17th at The Water Tower Inn. This year’s dinner will honour the Hollingsworth family.
Algoma University will be hosting The Diversity & Equity Speaker Series, aimed at promoting a safe and inclusive campus and community environment. The series runs from the fall of 2018 and into the winter of 2019.
Today, Grade Six students from across the region will be celebrating Education Day at Algoma U. The event, hosted by the University’s Anishinaabe Initiatives team, marks a unique co-operation between the school boards and Algoma U.
