Algoma University's Policy Framework

Algoma University’s Policy Framework provides a clear, consistent, and transparent approach for developing, consulting, approving, implementing, and managing policies and procedures at the University.

Key Features of Policy Framework

Developed and implemented by the Policy Office, the Policy Framework includes the following key features:

  • Structured policy lifecycle – covering initiation, development, review, modification, consolidation, retirement and approval.
  • Clear roles and responsibilities for Policy Owners, Approval Authorities, and governing bodies, with both regular and expedited approval processes to respond to urgent legislative, operational, or strategic needs.
  • Alignment and Accessibility – to ensure policies comply with legislation, support the University’s Special Mission, values, and strategic priorities, and are accessible to the community.
  • Structured consultation established to promote collaboration, accessibility, and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) throughout policy development and review.
  • Community Impact ensuring policies are well-organized, regularly reviewed, and continuously improved, keeping them current, relevant, and practical for students, employees, and all members of the University community.
