(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – January 31, 2017): Today, Algoma University has lowered its flags in memory of the victims of the attack on a mosque in Quebec City on Sunday.
This horrendous attack has no place in our society. As Canadians, we believe in tolerance and we are proud of the rich mosaic of beliefs, practices and languages that make up our multi-cultural society.
Algoma University is committed to a diverse student body and to cross-cultural education. We will continue to welcome – indeed, to seek out – students from across the world. Together, we will learn to shape a peaceful future where acceptance of each other leads us to grow in humility, truth and wisdom.
We condemn the Quebec City attack and extend our thoughts to all those affected.
