Holocaust Survivor And Author Max Eisen To Speak At Algoma University

On Tuesday, October 29, Algoma University is honoured to welcome Holocaust survivor, Max Eisen to campus. Max Eisen’s By Chance Alone: A Remarkable True Story of Courage and Survival at Auschwitz won the CBC’s Canada Reads this year. His visit is part of Algoma Reads, a community-based reading project in which Algoma University students gain experiential learning by hosting our community at public book events.

Everyone is welcome to join us at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, October 29 in the Doc Brown Lounge (EW 205) for Mr. Eisen’s talk. The event is free. Donations towards the costs of Algoma Reads are greatly appreciated.

Algoma Reads will be hosting CBC Canada Reads authors, Winnie Yeung and Lindsay Wong in November. Winnie Yeung will discuss Homes: A Refugee Story, which she co-wrote with Syrian refugee, Abu Bakr Al Rabeeah, on Tuesday, November 12 at 5:30 pm. Lindsay Wong will discuss her memoir, The Woo-Woo: How I Survived Ice Hockey, Drug Raids, Demons, and My Crazy Chinese Family on Tuesday, November at 5:30 pm. All events are open to the public and are held in the Doc Brown Lounge (EW 205) on Algoma University’s Sault Ste. Marie campus.
