2021 Holiday Season Campus Access Updates & Covid Safety Reminders

Unless otherwise listed, all Algoma University facilities, administrative and faculty offices in Sault Ste. Marie, Brampton and Timmins will be closed for the holiday season at the end of the business day today (4:30pm). 

Although some facilities will reopen on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, all students are encouraged to review the Winter Semester COVID-10 Information Update circulated earlier this week.

Winter 2022 classes commence on Monday, January 10, 2022. Reminder – all courses will be delivered virtually until January 30, 2022.

Additional campus scheduling notes during the holiday period are outlined below:

Sault Ste Marie Campus:

Arthur A. Wishart Library

  • December 24, 2021- January 3, 2022: CLOSED
  • January 4 – 7, 2022: Virtual services only
  • Reopening Monday, Jan 10, 2022: OPEN 8:30 AM- 4:30 PM

George Leach Centre (GLC)

  • December 24, 2021: OPEN 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • December 25, 2021: CLOSED
  • December 26,2021:OPEN 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • December 31, 2021: OPEN 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • January 1, 2022: CLOSED

Bookstore

  • Monday to Thursday, OPEN 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM until December 23, 2021
  • December 24th, 2021 to January 3rd, 2022: CLOSED
  • Reopens Tuesday, January 4th, 2022

Morningstar Cafeteria

  • December 22-23, 2021: OPEN 11 AM – 3 PM
  • December 24, 2021, to January 3rd, 2022: CLOSED
  • Reopens January 4, 2022, at 9:00 AM
    • NOTE – Tim Hortons to reopen when in-person course delivery resumes

Student Success Central 

  • December 24, 2021- January 3, 2022:  CLOSED
  • Tuesday, January 4, 2022: OPEN 8:30 AM- 4:30 PM (Virtual)

Information Technology

  • December 24 – December 27, 2021: CLOSED
  • December 28, 2021: OPEN 12 PM to 4 PM (Virtual)
  • December 29, 2021: OPEN 12 PM to 4 PM (Virtual)
  • December 30, 2021:  OPEN 12 PM to 4 PM(Virtual)
  • January 2, 2022:  OPEN 12 PM to 4 PM (Virtual)

Computer Labs

  • Computer Lab access will stop on Tuesday, December 23, 2021 at
    4:00 PM and resume on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 9:00 AM.

Mail Service

  • University mail services will stop on Thursday, December 23 at 3:00 pm and resume on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

Security 

  • SSM Campus security is available at all times (705-949-2301, ext. 4444) during the holiday period.  

Brampton Campus:

  • December 24, 2021- January 3, 2022:  CLOSED
  • Virtual IT and Student Success services as noted above

Timmins Campus:

  • December 20 – December 23: OPEN  7 AM –  6 PM
    • Cafeteria CLOSED from December 20, 2021 – January 7, 2022
  • December 24: OPEN 7 AM-  4 PM
  • Virtual IT and Student Success services as noted above
  • The Northern College campus will be closed from December 25, 2021 until January 4, 2022.
