Algoma University Hosts 32nd International Conference on AI and Software Engineering

Algoma University’s Faculty of Computer Science and Technology proudly hosted the 32nd Association for Computer and Information Science (ACIS) International Conference on Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Networking and Parallel/Distributed Computing (SNPD 2025) on the Brampton Campus. This three day global conference convened international researchers, industry professionals, and students to share breakthroughs and foster collaborations in AI, networking, and software engineering.

Organized by Algoma University in partnership with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and ACIS, the event showcased research presentations, workshops, and networking opportunities covering topics including, AI-driven software design, large-scale distributed systems, and security in networked environments.

Approximately 75 research papers authored by researchers from China, the USA, Jordan, Tunisia, Japan, Oman, Bangladesh, and Canada were accepted and presented at the conference, including a paper submitted by Algoma University.

“We are honoured to host this prestigious international gathering at Algoma University,” said Dr. Simon Xu, Acting Dean, Faculty of Computer Science and Technology, and the General Chair of SNPD 2025. “This conference reflects our commitment to cross-cultural education, academic excellence, research innovation, and meaningful global engagement. SNPD 2025 has offered invaluable opportunities for our students and faculty to engage with emerging ideas and connect with global thought leaders in computer science and technology.”

The keynote speakers, Miguel Vargas Martin, Ph.D., Professor of Computer Science, Ontario Tech University, and John (Junghwan) Rhee, Ph.D., Associate Professor, University of Central Oklahoma, spoke on the two-decade research journey at the intersection of machine learning, cybersecurity, human interaction, and natural language processing, as well as the sophistication of cybersecurity attacks targeting critical infrastructure, businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies, respectively.

The SNPD 2025 organizing committee gratefully acknowledges the generous support of its sponsors: INZola Group (Platinum Sponsor), Greenwin (Gold Sponsor), and the Algoma University Centre of Excellence in Immersive Technology (Silver Sponsor).
