MARIE, ON- February 20, 2020): Five members of the Algoma University Thunderbirds Wrestling team are at Brock University this Friday and Saturday where they will be competing at the USports National Wrestling Championships. The Thunderbirds will be joining the top University wrestlers from across the country to compete for the national championships in their respective weight divisions.
Unless otherwise noted, all Algoma University facilities, administrative and faculty offices in Sault Ste. Marie, Brampton and Timmins will be closed on Monday, February 17th, 2020 for Family Day.

Each year, the Algoma University Thunderbirds Basketball program participates in ‘Shoot for the Cure’; an awareness and fundraising campaign for the Canadian Cancer Society. For an entire weekend, admission to both Men’s and Women’s games are by donation.
Three Thunderbird Wrestlers reached the podium at the OUA Wrestling Championships hosted by the University of Guelph on Saturday, February 1st. Brody Collison won a Gold in the men’s 54 kg category, Emily Duchesne won Bronze in the women’s 51 kg category and Bryce Davis also won Bronze in the men’s 68 kg category.

Algoma University’s Shingwauk Residential Schools Centre (SRSC) was recognized this evening by the City of Sault Ste. Marie and Mayor Christian Provenzano with a Municipal Heritage Award for their impressive work to support truth and reconciliation efforts as well the preservation of the legacy of Indian Residential Schools and the Survivor community.
The Algoma Wrestling team will be heading to Guelph, Ontario this upcoming weekend to compete in the OUA Wrestling Championships hosted by the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday, February 1st. The Thunderbird Men’s Wrestling team is currently ranked 10th in the nation by U Sports.
