Big News: At Algoma U You Get a Single Room!

Whether living in our dormitories or our townhouses, all of Algoma University’s residence options feature a private, single room. A single room provides you with the best learning and study environment, with countless opportunities to get involved or hang out with fellow residents. Our accessible residences are centrally located on our campus and are within a two-minute walk to classes, computer labs, the George Leach Centre, the Speakeasy, the cafeteria, and major transit routes.

2026 SPRING/SUMMER IMPORTANT RESIDENCE DATES

  • Applications Open on January 19th, 2026.
  • Applications Close on  March 16th, 2026.
  • Residence Deposit Deadline March 18th, 2026.
  • Residence Offers will be extended on March 20th, 2026.
  • Deadline to Accept Residence Offer April 1st, 2026.
  • Official Move In Day May 2nd, 2026.
  • Students are to Move Out 24 hours after their last scheduled exam of the semester unless staying in residence the subsequent semester.

There’s Plenty of Rooms to Grow Into

Algoma U students have plenty of options in regards to residence. The Algoma Dormitory, Lou Lukenda Dormitory, and Spirit Village Townhouses are centrally located on campus. Each unit is a single room with access to laundry, common rooms, kitchens, and much more.

Algoma Dormitory

The Algoma Dormitory opened its doors in September of 2012. It is our largest and newest building with a 96-bed student capacity. The Algoma Dormitory provides a comfortable, safe, and convenient on-campus residence and is the ideal location for first-year, direct from high school students. The Algoma Dormitory includes:

  • Fully-furnished bedroom with a single bed, desk, and wardrobe
  • Bathroom shared with only 1-2 other students
  • High-speed wireless Internet connection
  • Local phone service (in the common room)
  • Onsite security features and 24-hour video surveillance in common areas
  • Weekly cleaning service in all bathrooms and common areas (except during spring/summer session based on occupancy)
  • Dormitory common rooms with entertainment centre and microwave
  • Study spaces
  • Elevator access
  • Laundry facilities
  • Mailboxes

Lou Lukenda Dormitory

The Lou Lukenda Dormitory provides a comfortable, safe, and convenient on-campus residence for everyone. The Lou Lukenda Dormitory is our smaller dormitory style building with a 45-bed student capacity. Students can enjoy access to the shared common room with kitchen space, an activity table, and lounge area. The Lou Lukenda Dormitory includes:

  • Fully-furnished bedroom with a single bed, desk, and wardrobe
  • Bathroom shared with only one other student
  • High-speed wireless Internet connection
  • Onsite Security features and 24-hour video surveillance in common areas
  • Weekly cleaning service in all bathrooms and common areas (except during spring/summer session based on occupancy)

Spirit Village Townhouses

The Spirit Village Townhouses provide convenient and shared on-campus housing for Algoma University students. Each unit contains five private bedrooms, two bathrooms, a common living room, and a kitchen. The townhouses include:

  • Private bedroom with a single bed, desk, and dresser
  • Fully-furnished kitchen and living room spaces with a kitchen table and chairs, sofa, television, refrigerator, and oven
  • High-speed wireless Internet connection
  • Study spaces
  • Laundry facilities
  • Mailboxes
  • Parking*

Financing support and assistance are available to students living in Residence through our Financial Aid Office, which can be found here.

Algoma University Residence is committed to offering inclusive housing on-campus, including accessible room options for students that may require it.

*Please note that students have access to free parking at Algoma University. Fees are subject to change.
