History behind Anti-Racism Week
Last year, in January, Ontario University Athletics (OUA) held its first Anti-Racism Week. The week was a dedicated time frame to acknowledge the injustices that marginalized individuals face based on their skin colour, heritage, and culture. Teams across Ontario universities honoured the week by wearing a “United Against Racism” shirt, which featured the logos from all schools that play under the OUA.
This year, the OUA has announced that two Anti-Racism Weeks will be held for the 2023-2024 season – one during the fall and one during the winter. The first week will run from September 23rd to October 1st.
