(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – July 14, 2016): Get out your smart phones and tablets! Algoma University’s website (www.algomau.ca) is now 100 per cent mobile responsive.
In 2015 nearly 50 per cent of the University’s online traffic came from mobile devices. By becoming mobile responsible, the post-secondary institution’s website is making online content more accessible to a wider audience around the world.
“Algoma University’s website is its most important communications tool. We need to ensure the content is presented in a format that is appealing and efficient for our audience,” said Brent Krmpotich, Director of Marketing and Communications at Algoma U. “We are responding to a shift in the way people access web content. We have seen a steady rise in the number of people visiting our website on mobile devices. This is especially true of prospective students, over 70 per cent of students entering our site through the future student’s portal are on mobile devices. Our re-designed site will improve the user experience for these potential students.”
The re-designed site is built on the WorldPress content management system. The shift to WordPress has allowed the University to manage, monitor, design, and updated the website in-house. The re-designed site performs better on search engine optimization tests, improves navigation, loads faster, and allows for new advertising strategies.
