(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON- September 28, 2022): This past weekend, the Algoma University Department of Strategic Advancement and Alumni Affairs welcomed all alumni to our Sault Ste. Marie campus for the first in-person Homecoming since 2019. 

Over the course of the weekend, guests enjoyed campus tours, varsity soccer games, a Milestone Dinner at the Loft, and had the opportunity to explore renovations on campus, specifically the newly renovated Speakeasy campus bar.

“We had a wonderful weekend reminiscing with alumni,” shared Ashley Foster, Manager of Alumni & Strategic Initiatives. “During our campus tours, we enjoyed hearing stories about Algoma University in its infancy and had the opportunity to showcase the tremendous growth on campus. We look forward to growing this annual event, and expanding the alumni presence across our campus communities.” 

At the Milestone Dinner, alumni who completed their studies 10, 15, and 20 years ago were celebrated, and the weekend wrapped up with a social at the Speakeasy, which was the first time many alumni saw the newly renovated and modern space.

“It was really great to connect with past alumni and celebrate the achievements of those who graduated from Algoma University over the last twenty years,” shared Taylor Jaehrling, current Global Mobility and Engagement Coordinator at Algoma University, and 2017 Community Economic and Social Development grad. “Graduates from all different disciplines felt a huge sense of pride and accomplishment when thinking about their experience at Algoma U and we are all excited to see the growth of the university and the impact future graduates will have on the community.”
