What we see can be hard to understand: Looking at images of sports in residential schools
Images of sports in the Indian residential school system are complex stories that should be unpacked carefully and thoughtfully. In this 1-hour workshop-style presentation, we will draw from research and practice to discuss how to better appreciate these images so that they strengthen our understanding of the residential school system. We will also suggest how participants can view photographs of sports at residential school through a critical eye to better understand the “shadows” behind the images.
