(TIMMINS, ON- June 3, 2022): For the first time since 2019, Algoma University celebrated the academic accomplishments of its graduating students studying in Timmins in person this afternoon at the Northern College Spring 2022 Convocation Ceremony.
President and Vice-Chancellor Asima Vezina conferred degrees on students who successfully completed the requirements of the Bachelor of Social Work [Honours] and Bachelor of Arts in Community Development programs offered by Algoma University at the Timmins campus of Northern College.
“We are delighted to be back in person to celebrate the success of both Northern College and Algoma University students at today’s convocation ceremony,” shared President and Vice-Chancellor Asima Vezina. “Thank you so much to our partners at Northern College for sharing the stage with us today, and for your steadfast dedication to education in the north. Congratulations to all members of the Class of 2022, we are so proud of each and every one of you!”
In addition to celebrating the achievement of those who successfully completed their studies in 2021/2022, incoming Algoma University student Ashley Harriman was recognized during the 2022 Northern College Grad Awards Ceremony, held on Thursday evening, with the “Commitment to ‘Northern. Value.’ Bursary”. The bursary is awarded to Northern College graduates who are continuing their post-secondary education through Algoma U offerings in Timmins. The bursary is tied to a special joint admissions agreement established between the two institutions that has generated a record number of new applications.
Algoma looks forward to continued collaboration with Northern College to address post-secondary programming needs in Timmins and the surrounding region while continuing to cultivate cross-cultural learning between Anishinaabe communities and other communities in the north.
Congratulations to all of our 2021/2022 Graduates!
