Algoma University’s Visual Art Program Gala Fundraising Event

Algoma University’s Visual Art Program Gala Fundraising Event

Algoma University’s Visual Art Program is pleased to launch our first wine and cheese fundraising event Falling Into Art, on September 8, 2022, at the Sault Museum. All proceeds are going towards the Visual Arts program. Having the ability to pursue a fine arts degree at a university level locally helps in keeping the local arts and culture scene viable and thriving. By hosting this event, we hope to do our part in keeping with this goal and infusing some much-needed funding into the program.

The evening will consist of a silent art auction, music, wine and apps. We have tables with charcuterie boards available by reservation or general admission with access to a grazing table. Please see below for admission purchasing options.

Donating artists include: Tom O’Flanagan, Annie King, Katie Huckson, Lucia Laford, Michael Burtch, Andrea Pinheiro, Daryl Wier, Isabelle Michaud, Desiree Watson, Amy Williams, Penny Gabor, Emma McLeod, Goldie Barzan, and Aryo Barzan. This is an excellent opportunity to add some local artwork to your collection or to begin building one!

We hope you will attend the event and bring friends. Should you be unable to attend but still wish to support our event, a financial contribution is greatly appreciated and a tax receipt will be issued by Algoma University.

About Algoma University’s Visual Art Program

Algoma University’s Visual Art Program offers a 4 -year Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree as well as a 3- year BA in Visual Art and a Minor in Visual Art. The program has well-equipped studios in Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Digital Media, Photography, Woodworking, and a growing Ceramics studio. The distinct land and ecology of the Algoma region play a large role in the program, both as inspiration and through direct work with and on the land. In addition to studio courses in the areas listed above, our Special Topics Courses connect students to a wide range of unique studio areas, Art History and Theory courses introduce students to the richness and diversity of cultural and artistic production, the Group Exhibition and Professional Practices course teaches students the business of art, and our Visual Art Internship courses place students with arts and cultural organizations to gain relevant work experience. Our program is one of, if not the only BFA program to provide solo exhibitions for our Thesis students in their 4th year of study. The program is geared towards preparing students for work as professional artists, creative entrepreneurs, community leaders, caretakers, innovative problem solvers, and visionaries of the future.
