KAIROS Blanket Exercise
The Dean’s Office invites you to participate in a Blanket Exercise on September 7, 1-4pm in the George Leach Centre. The Blanket Exercise is an integral part of Orientation Week 2016. This exercise will be followed by a Round Dance in which all participants will be encouraged to join.
The Blanket Exercise aims to educate and increase empathy by engaging participants on an emotional and intellectual level. Algoma University recognizes and acknowledges that it is located on the Traditional Ojibwe Territory of Batchewana First Nation and Garden River First Nation, and that Algoma University is the site of the former Shingwauk and Wawanosh Indian Residential Schools. Our location provides an important insight into the history that will be discussed during the blanket exercise.
