Comprised of a seasoned group of eLearning specialists and educators with specialized training, the CTL supports professors and lecturers to create more engaging course experiences, both in-person and online. The CTL offers customized training programs for each faculty group.
“Algoma University’s legislation gives us a Special Mission to foster a unique cross-cultural and inclusive learning environment. The Centre for Teaching and Learning at Algoma University aspires to support the institution as its backbone when it comes to fulfilling the Special Mission. The CTL is also the hub for academic excellence and quality, innovation in teaching, and the promotion of research,” said Saud Taj, PhD, who is the director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning.
In addition to promoting collaborative research into teaching and learning practices, the CTL will also be responsible for ensuring Algoma University is in alignment with academic integrity standards, and contributing to the institution’s commitment to Indigenization and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion strategies. Algoma University also uses state-of-the-art technology inside classrooms — whether they are in-person, online or hybrid — and CTL staff will play a crucial role in helping faculty with Algoma University’s Learning Management System.
